Every student deserves to attend school in an environment where they feel safe, respected, valued, and supported. Our district must take concerns involving bullying, racism, discrimination, harassment, and student well-being seriously and respond with consistency, transparency, and care. I will support efforts that strengthen school climate, promote belonging, provide appropriate mental health and wellness resources, and ensure students and families know their concerns will be heard and addressed.

Academic success must remain at the center of our work. I will support strong instruction, early intervention, targeted academic support, and thoughtful use of district resources to help students strengthen foundational skills and continue making meaningful progress. I also want our students to have access to enriching opportunities that allow them to discover their strengths, build confidence, and be well prepared for the next stage of their education.

Families are essential partners in student success. I believe our schools are strongest when parents, caregivers, educators, staff, and community members have opportunities to communicate openly and work together. I will advocate for accessible communication, meaningful family involvement, and opportunities for our community to provide input before important decisions are made. Building trust requires listening, responding, and ensuring families know their voices matter.

Serving on a school board requires thoughtful decision-making, accountability, collaboration, and responsible stewardship of public resources. My experience in public service and financial management has taught me the importance of understanding how public funds are used, following applicable rules and requirements, asking the right questions, and considering both immediate needs and long-term impact. I will approach board decisions carefully, communicate openly with the community, and keep the needs of Rio students at the center of the work.
